Human Traffic

I just watched a movie that I purchased more than 2 years ago and until today had never watched! O M G! It was chalk full of humour, drugs, sex, music, and basically life in the United Kingdom! If you haven't seen the movie Human Traffic, I highly suggest you go to Blockbuster, Hastings, or whichever company you rent your DVDs from and rent it. This is the UK's answer to Jay and Silent Bob.

A quick run down on what happens in the flick:

Jipp, our sexually frustrated leading man, is going nuts because he can't seem to keep it up when he's with a girl and he thinks he's cursed for the rest of his life to be celibate. He and his friends get together on the start of the weekend (of course a Friday) and start off with a pint or two or three dozen before heading off to a kick-ass dance club in Cardiff (the capitol of Wales) where they then proceed to get stoned out of their minds on E, coke, and a series of other drugs I can't even begin to fathom.

After the club closes down they then head off to an after-party at some ritzy home where they dance, proceed to ponder the meaning of life, and then do more drugs and alcohol. At the end of the party, which is now Sunday, they drive back home while coming down from their ecstasy/coke/pot enduced high and then pair off and shag like weasles! Jipp hooks up with his best mate who he has been friends with for only god knows how long, and they break each other's spell of sex that isn't. And, in my opinion, what has to be the best last line of a film: "I'm gonna f*ck your brains out!"

Now, you've basically just seen the movie, but there's sooooooooo much more to it than that. Of course some parts a bit hard to understand since they're speaking in really sour Cockney accents, and they're speaking in a slang that just doesn't make sense to, oh let's say...THE REST OF THE WORLD! But once you get used to the accents you catch on pretty quick to what's being said and it's f*cking hilarious! There is slang in the movie that I'm only beginning to learn, and stuff that I've never heard before, but you'll get the gist of it when you hear it. Things like, "I'm off my trumpet" meaning "I'm out of my mind" to those of us NOT from the UK. And of course there are references to television programmes/movies that we just don't get in the US, but they're perfect for the movie nonetheless.

So, with that ringing endorsement, you simply MUST go rent "Human Traffic" and watch it. Have a couple of drinks before you start, while you're watching, and if you feel like it, have a talk with Frank. Watch the first couple of minutes to get used to the accents then start the movie over again and go from there. You'll enjoy it just as much as I have, I'm sure.
