It all makes sense

I heard a great little statement again today. It comes from an autobiographical story about a gay ex-Mormon who served a mission in Los Angeles. It's a nice little sentiment that I like to think is true. I can't quote it verbatim, but here's the gist.

Do you read the Sunday Comics? When I was a kid I used to put my face up close to them and I was amazed at the mass of dots. I like to think that from god's perspective it's not just dots. We're all connected. It's beautiful and funny....and it's good. From up close we can't expect it to make sense right now.

I think that's more true than we probably realize. We can't see the bigger picture in life, and because of that everything looks like a mass of dots. Yet, as we get older, and hopefully wiser, the dots make a picture and start to make sense. It really is beautiful. And it definitely is good. No matter what happens to us on a day-to-day basis, it's only a dot in the bigger picture. It's the be all, end all. It's only a dot.

From time to time we need to step back and look at the bigger picture, and remember it is truly beautiful.
